We moved the shop from a custom-built solution to PrestaShop 1.7. The platform became scalable and independent of an external supplier, and the client gained control over the code and the ability to roll out new features whenever needed.
Gerlach
Moving away from a closed solution to PrestaShop, with engraving and a loyalty programme
Gerlach has been part of Polish kitchens and dining rooms for more than 260 years. The brand’s history goes back to 1790, and today it is a company growing its online sales and entering new foreign markets.
The shop ran on a custom-built solution that limited growth and tied the brand to a single supplier. Gerlach needed a platform it could develop its own way, with no technology lock-in.
In Poland the brand is well known, but abroad it still had to build trust. The shop was to support that with consistent communication, strong product presentation and a clear interface.
Customers wanted to personalise products, which is a technical task, not a cosmetic one. On top of that came the need for a loyalty programme to keep them with the brand.
Several shops on one PrestaShop instance were hard to run independently. A solution was needed to enable features in a single shop without syncing them globally.
As the brand grew, so did the need for an orderly warehouse and consistent data across sales channels. Without ERP integration, every stock change required manual work.
The brand sells on several platforms at once, and orders and stock levels had to be brought together in one place instead of being tracked separately in each channel.
Seven areas of the project, from migrating off the custom solution to the loyalty programme. Expand to see the details.
We moved the shop from a custom-built solution to PrestaShop 1.7. The platform became scalable and independent of an external supplier, and the client gained control over the code and the ability to roll out new features whenever needed.
We built a bespoke PrestaShop module for product engraving. The customer chooses which item in a set should be engraved, then the engraving colour, font and text. Once the text is entered, the engraving appears on a product preview, so the final result is visible before buying.
We connected PrestaShop with Enova ERP. Stock levels update automatically and data stays consistent across all sales channels.
We designed an interactive collection section on the homepage, with a quick product preview and a direct link to the chosen product page.
A bespoke module solved the problem of globally synced features. Each shop in the multistore can be configured separately, according to its needs.
We implemented Apilo for multichannel sales. Orders and stock levels from different platforms are managed from one place.
We implemented an in-house loyalty module: customers collect points for purchases and exchange them for discount vouchers. We added gift wrapping in the basket, a same-day dispatch countdown and automatic free gifts above a spending threshold.
Gerlach moved off its custom-built solution and now sells on its own platform, with no dependence on a single supplier. Stock and order data flows automatically between the shop, Enova ERP and Apilo, and shops in the multistore can be configured separately. The catalogue gained something it never had before: product engraving with a live preview.
A loyalty programme with points exchangeable for vouchers, automatic free gifts above a threshold, gift wrapping and cross-sell in the mini basket work together to raise order value and bring customers back.
We run home & garden shops where product photos, set configuration and efficient delivery matter. See what we implement for brands in this category.
