Client challenges

Migration from PrestaShop 1.7

01

The old PrestaShop 1.7 meant growing technical debt, security gaps and poor performance. All the data, meaning products, customers and orders, had to move to a stable version without interrupting sales.

Underperforming platform

02

The existing infrastructure couldn’t cope with growing traffic, especially during sales peaks. The shop slowed down, and customers felt it.

ERP integration

03

The ERP integration had to be designed from scratch: the flow of stock levels, orders and products, plus logic matched to the ERP structure.

Order automation

04

Order and returns handling couldn’t keep up with the growing scale of operations. The new model had to cover more complex logistics and accounting scenarios and automate the whole process.

Omnichannel

05

High-street stores and the online channel worked separately, which meant lost sales potential.

International expansion

06

Entering foreign markets required an architecture where language versions, currencies and product catalogues are managed from one panel, and a new shop version can be launched quickly.

How we helped the client

Five areas of the project, from data migration to preparing the platform for new markets. Expand to see the details.

We moved all the data from the old PrestaShop 1.7 to the stable PrestaShop 8. We put the shop on dedicated infrastructure with two separate servers, one for the application and one for the database. This setup keeps the shop running smoothly even under very heavy traffic.

When the client moved to the LSI system, we built a bespoke two-way integration. It is a module plus an integration layer that automate business processes: stock synchronisation, passing orders on for fulfilment and handling complex returns and invoicing scenarios.

We connected the online channel with in-store sales. Store staff can order a product for a customer straight from the ecommerce warehouse, so an item being out of stock in the store no longer means a lost sale.

We modified a third-party promotions module for the needs of fashion retail. After the change, discounts are assigned to specific products in the basket rather than its total value. This tidied up accounting and allowed returns settlement to be automated.

We prepared the whole platform to work in a multistore model. The client can launch new language and currency versions from one admin panel, without building a separate shop from scratch.

Results of the partnership

After the migration, Reporter Young runs on the new PrestaShop platform more reliably and faster. At the heart of the project is a two-way LSI ERP integration built from scratch, which automated order and returns handling, eliminated data entry errors and gave the team back time previously spent on manual work.

Ready for growth

The new server infrastructure and multistore architecture provide a platform that scales with the business and is ready for new markets.
